At His core, God is love. Everything He does, His rules, His patience, even His discipline, comes from wanting the best for us and not from wanting to control us. He never forces anyone to love or obey Him.

Suffering comes from sin and evil choices, not from God. He's actually working to end all suffering for good, and one day, He will.
